Citizen Ride-Along Program

The Ride-Along Program provides interested citizens with an insight into the operations of the department. It is our hope that citizens will find the experience both informative and enjoyable.

How Does the Ride-Along Work?

A participating citizen will be assigned to ride with a regular patrol officer of the department. The officer will attend to normal duties and will respond to all calls for service for which the officer is assigned.

Who Can Ride?

Cherry Hills residents will receive priority; however, other metro area residents are allowed to ride as the schedule permits. Cherry Hills Police Department applicants and employees are encouraged to ride. Commissioned officers from other jurisdictions are also allowed to ride. All riders must be at least 16 years of age and may ride only once every six months.

What if There is an Emergency?

While every effort will be made to ensure the safety of the rider, the police officer's first responsibility will be to carry out assigned duties. If some emergency should arise, the rider must, without question, comply with any orders or directions given by the officer. This is for the rider's safety.

If You Want to Ride…

Please visit the police department to complete a Ride-Along Application and Waiver. All riders will be required to:

  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • Wear clean and appropriate attire during the ride-along
  • Behave appropriately and obey the instructions of the officer
