October 2025 :
The pond dredging project is now underway! The contractor will complete the dredging and earthwork this fall, and will remobilize in the spring to reseed, plant wetland plugs, and plant trees. During the dredging process, the High Line Canal Trail may occasionally close during the day and a short detour will be posted to keep trail users safe during trucking operations. Please keep an eye out for flaggers and signage!
June 2025
The Big Barn is complete! Read Mayor Brown's Report from the June 2025 Village Crier (PDF). The contractor is completing some finishing touches.
October 2024
The Big Barn rehabilitation is underway! The east side (barnyard) will be closed for about a week starting October 24, 2024 to complete trenching for electrical and water lines related to the Big Barn rehabilitation project. Once trenching is complete, the barnyard will reopen. For more information about the project, please visit https://www.cherryhillsvillage.com/626/2024-Quincy-Farm-Big-Barn-Renovation . Thank you for your patience!
Late July 2024
We are thrilled to announce that the City has been awarded a $241,000 grant from Arapahoe County Open Space to assist with habitat improvements for the pond at Quincy Farm! This pond is located next to the High Line Canal and is visited by many birds and other wildlife, but it is very shallow and suffers from poor water quality. It will be dredged to make it smaller and deeper to provide a healthier, more diverse habitat. Nesting boxes and bat boxes will be added to further support our wildlife. Please visit the Pond webpage to learn more about the project.
Early July 2024
On July 5th, there was a small brush fire on the West side of the Farm caused by fireworks, which are illegal in all parks and open spaces. Please visit the incident report on the Police Department's website for more information or to submit a tip. Staff is exploring the best options for restoration of the area.

April 2024 - Annual Plan Project Updates
Big Barn
The Big Barn will be renovated this year to stabilize the structure and create a small gathering place for programs. The historic elements of the Barn will be maintained. The City has contracted with Rogue Architecture to complete the construction drawings. The 95% drawings are complete, and final decisions about finishes are being made now in coordination with the Cherry Hills Land Preserve. The project will go out to bid this summer.
West Area Nature Trail
As previously announced, the City, in coordination with its partner, Cherry Hills Land Preserve, will be opening up to the public a pedestrian trail on the west side of Quincy Farm later this spring. The ¼ mile walking trail (pictured above) will enable community members to enjoy the natural landscape as well as the beautiful vistas uniquely located on the west side of Quincy Farm. This trail is an upgrade to the existing trail that was installed several years ago and will be open from dawn to dusk so that residents may appreciate and respect the natural and human history of the area. This limited access to the natural area is designed to ensure protection of wildlife and natural habitat in concert with the conservation values established by Cat Anderson through the conservation easement. To comply with the conservation easement on the property the City designed the trail improvements in direct consultation with the same environmental expert who performed the original 2007 baseline report for Cat Anderson.
The improved trail has a crusher fine surface and will consist of two loops. Because great-horned owls have been known to nest in a box located in the northwest corner of the Farm along Quincy Avenue, this work will take place in two phases to avoid potential disturbance of the owls during nesting season.
Phase 1 of the trail, completed in March 2024, extends from the driveway across the bluegrass lawn into the pastures. This loop avoids the area where the box is located. Phase 2 of the work will be a loop that crosses the northwest corner of the pastures, and will not commence until later this year after nesting season ends. This loop will also observe seasonal closures to ensure the owls are not disturbed.
Once the trail is complete, it will be open dawn to dusk, similar to the east side of the Farm.
Pond
The pond will be dredged this year to make it smaller and deeper to improve the water quality and create an improved habitat for wildlife. The City Engineer (Icon Engineering) is currently working on a design, anticipated to be completed this spring. Since the pond is such an important habitat location, ecologists from Matrix Design Group are working with Icon to provide ecological recommendations as well. The 30% design is underway now and will be complete in April.

Dec. 8th, 2021
At their regular December meeting, City Council approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the City and the Cherry Hills Land Preserve regarding Quincy Farm. This MOU represents a positive first step in this next phase of the Farm’s future.
Under the MOU, the future of Quincy Farm will be organically driven by the Cherry Hills Land Preserve (CHLP). Each year, a Quincy Farm team comprised of CHLP board members and staff and city staff will create an Annual Plan for the Farm. This document will be completed by July 31st and will plan for the the following calendar year. It will contain four main parts:
- a list of programs and activities proposed for the year
- a budget for operating and capital funds, specifying the amount of funds to be contributed by CHLP towards the Plan
- any requests for funds from the City
- a list of potential grants that could be pursued
CHLP will present the Plan to City Council for consideration and approval each summer, starting next year. In the meantime, the great programming CHLP provided at the Farm in 2021 will start up again in 2022. This is a significant milestone for the future of the Farm, and both City staff and CHLP are ready to form a team and get started!
