John Meade Park
Wetlands Regrading - April 2024
Work to regrade a section of the wetlands in John Meade Park will begin on Monday, April 1st and is expected to take two-three weeks. The gravel lot and the paths leading to the back corner of the wetlands will be closed while this work is completed (please reference the map below). The park shelter, bluegrass areas, playground, and both fishing piers will all be open and accessible the entire time. The work is being done to lower the grade at the back corner of the park, since it is currently too far above the water table for wetlands plants to establish there. Please contact Parks Project & Operations Manager Emily Black (eblack@cherryhillsvillage.com) with any questions.
About the Park
John Meade Park and Alan Hutto Memorial Commons were redeveloped in 2019-2020. The park contains a new picnic shelter with restrooms and a play area with a saucer swing and hammock, a tree climber, and an observation tower. There are now fishing piers at both ponds, a boardwalk through the wetlands, and 125 new trees that will grow up to provide plenty of shade. On the Alan Hutto Memorial Commons side, there is a concrete performance area, pathways, and terraced grass amphitheater.
Since its completion, the park has won a number of awards:
