Public Participation
Audience Participation Period
All City Council meetings are open to the public and can also be watched live.
The public has the opportunity to speak at City Council meetings. For items without a Public Hearing, there is an Audience Participation period at the beginning of the meeting. If the item is the subject of a Public Hearing then public comments will be heard during the designated Public Hearing time.
Guidelines
As you address the Council, please follow these guidelines:
- Turn off your cell phone.
- State your name and address before making your comments.
- Present your views as concisely as possible without repeating testimony from other speakers.
- Speakers are called in the order they signed up.
- Limit of five minutes per speaker.
- You cannot cede your time to another person.
- Attendees must not interfere with the orderly function of the meeting.
- Direct all comments to the City Council, not the audience.
- Council does not respond to comments.
- There is no audio-visual technology available for public comments. If you have paper handouts, hand them to the City Clerk to be distributed to City Council.
- Public Hearings: testimony is limited to the subject of the hearing.
Study Sessions
Public comment is not taken at study sessions, but the public is welcome to attend.
